-It's The Time for Practical Test-

Today, we had the first practical test for the two softwares, Multisim and Ultiboard, that we used in the class before. After a couple of weeks of fun with the Multisim and Ultiboard,  the time has come to test and see wether we really understand how to use them, or not.

The tasks given in the test were not really hard actually. As Mr. Ridzuan said, the test was exactly the same with the practices we did in the class. So, he told us that he won't give any help and he forbid us from asking him how or what to do. Otherwise, one mark will be deducted for one question asked.

The first question involved the single sided board with through hole components. While for the second task, we were asked to make a circuit using two types of components, SMD components and TH components. To make it easier, TH components must be placed on top of the board while SMD were at the bottom. Then, the copper tracks must be half at bottom and half on the top side of the board.

I decided to begin with the first circuit because the task seemed easier than the second one. I think there were no problem to deal with it. Then, I moved to the next circuit which the part I got stucked for 1hour and half. After that, I transferred the two circuits into the Ultiboard. When the time was reaching the end, my computer hanged and all the software applications closed by itself. Plus, I have forgotten to save all my works. Alhamdulillah.

With the 10 minutes left, I transferred back all my circuits done in Multisim into Ultiboard. After I have done with very simple design of boards, I placed all the components to its places and correct the mistakes and finished (but not all).

Ultiboard and Multisim

The class continued from where we stopped last week,  the using of multisim and ultiboard.
For today's lesson, Mr. Ridzuan taught us many things about these two softwares, which are very important to know when designing a circuit. We learned how to edit the design become more interesting and arrange the components on the design in good order.

The important thing that we had to care about when placing the components on the design are wether the wires intercepting to another wires or twisting. Mr. Ridzuan taught us how to tackle to the problems by adjusting the wire's width and position.

In addition, such the problems can be avoided by using some tools in the Ultiboard software that are

-autoroot
-follow me
-shapes
-array
-jumper
-DRC and others.

All of these tools can be reached at the top of Ultiboard.
In order to correct the circuit, we have to know what is the actual problem of the circuit.
So, DRC here plays its important function as it will display the problems of the circuits together with the place where the problems occurs.

Overall, I had a good time and I enjoyed the session. It was interesting as always. This Thursday we will be have a practical test on what we have coved in the class, which is using Multisim and Ultiboard to design and analyse circuits.

-The ULTIBOARD-

In the second class of this week, we continued our lesson from where we have stopped in the class before. To deal with the Ultiboard, we have to use the designs we have made before. The main use of the Ultiboard is to simulate the circuits, arrange the components on a board so it will look nicer and all these circuits can be transferred into 3D mode.

Ultiboard actually is an electronic Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Layout program which is part of a suite of circuit design programs, along with NI Multisim One of its major features is the Real Time Design Rule Check, a feature that was only offered on expensive work stations in the days when it was introduced.

In Ultiboard, I could design how my circuits looks like and edit the error occurs in the circuits effectively because Ultiboard will tell us where is the problem and what type of the problem occurs in the circuits. In addition, we can put our name on the board so it will make the designs more interesting.

-Multisim-

For this week's classes, Mr Ridzuan introduced us to the two new softwares named Multisim and Ultiboard. In the first class, we were focusing only to the Multisim because Mr Ridzuan said it will take times for us to learn something new like this new software. I think most of us never heard about this software before.

Mr. Ridzuan always mentioned to us that we have to be a fast learner because actually we have no much time to cover up all of the chapters including Multisim and Ultiboard. So, he said he will be teaching the lesson as fast as possible.

Back to the main story, The Multisim, we learned the basics of this software such the components, simulations, and connections of the components. Multisim actually is an electronic schematic capture and simulation program which is part of a suite of circuit design programs, along with Ultiboard.

Mr Redzuan asked us to do some practices using this software. We first designed the same circuits like he did and finally, we had to simulate the designs wether the circuits are working and can be runned or not.

I found a few websites that have the tutorials on Multisim. Maybe it will be useful to the beginners like me. Here is the link to the website Multisim..

Class With Dr. Rasli..

For today's class, Dr. Rasli took over the teaching session and replaced En. Ridzuan only for this day. He taught us a lot about the devices and system. But, I almost forgot all the information given by him as the information is new to me and by the same time, I forgot to take some notes about it.

From what I have remembered about the lesson, Dr. Rasli explained about the meaning of the devices and systems. Also, the meaning of the electronics.

There was an electronics component that I was really interested in. The name of the components was OLED. OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. For those who are the first time to hear about this..you can read the information of OLED just click here.

This is how an OLED looks like..

25 n 28 of October.

This week became a tough week for everyone of us, because in 25 Oct, we had our first practical test. Although the questions and tasks seemed easy for everyone but we still took time to tackle the questions, because practical test needs a full attention and carefullness to deal with it. Alhamdulillah, I think I can answer all the questions well, but not to be overconfident, I put all these to faith lastly. Insya Allah. God knows what is the best for me.

Then, in 28 Oct, we had our first oral presentation after we went through 2 weeks discussion about our own topics. As I have mentioned in last post, my group have chosen a topic about 3-Dimensional television.

There were 7 groups total in my class. Some of groups have two and three persons. And my group was the first group to present in the front. Although, we don't have too much knowledge about this 3D tv, but i think we have given a good presentation in overall.

Apart from that, there were 3 lecturers, Dr. Rasli, En. Ridzuan and Dr. Kamal, evaluated our presentations when we were presenting in the front. Lastly, the lecturers gave us some comments and a few tips for better presentations. For advance tips you can click this link..Presentation Tips, I think this link is good for beginners in presentation like me.
